Good morning! I hope your Monday was kind to you. Mine was just incredibly long, but scrapbook class was so much fun last night! I truly love sharing what I do, and classes are no exception. Speaking of sharing, I have a new technique for you to try, a marble embossed background. I've even made a video tutorial! I also just added a link on my sidebar for my YouTube channel, that way you can always easily get to my videos. Find it on the top right side bar, last button on the right that looks like a "play" symbol.
This technique is pretty simple, you just need a marble, VersaMark, and heat embossing supplies. Do you remember painting with marbles as a kid? I remember doing it in elementary school, and this technique reminded me so much of that! I love finding new, out of the box techniques to try, and this was no exception. So, here is a look at a card that I created with this technique.
This card is Bermuda Bay paired with Gold. For the marbled background, I chose Watercolor Paper and Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder. I used Bermuda Bay ink and an Aqua Painter to add to the marbled background. This is an example of lightly creating the marbled background. I love the fun, abstract background the technique creates. Check out my video to learn how to create it at home!
Isn't that so easy and fun to do? I think it would work great for a scrapbook page as well. I've tried it on several colors, but I'm also dying to try it on black cardstock--the embossing would really pop! I've created several cards, as seen in the video, and I think one might be great for a swap at Stampin' Up! Inspire. Create. Share. Convention coming up in a few weeks.
I used a neutral color combo for this card going with Basic Black, Tip Top Taupe, Very Vanilla, and Gold. I added lots of layers, including a fun watercolored flag. I really like how the marbled background technique works on regular cardstock. You can use any color combination for it, creating a variety of projects.
This card is my favorite of the bunch. It is done with the new 2015-2017 In Color Cucumber Crush. The Cucumber watercolors SO beautifully, and paired with the gold, it's just gorgeous! I added lots more texture to this card with a Paper Doily, gold papers, and Gold Baker's Twine. I'm also loving the Scripts & Silhouettes Stamp Set. You can get this set FREE by placing an order of $150 or more, or by hosting a party. Visit my online page to order, or contact me directly (top right side bar) via email to host your own party.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I really hope you enjoy trying the technique. Feel free to comment with any questions you might have. See you back soon!
