Happy Friday! I am excited to finally see the weekend. This week that means Spring Break for me! I'm so excited for 9 days of no work, and only fun! Ok, it won't be all fun as I do have a long to do list, but a lot of that stuff is fun, like creating! I'm very behind on house cleaning & creating so those are my biggest "to dos" for the week. I'm also excited to spend some quality time with Lovely, my nephews, and family. I'm just all around excited about time off! :)
Something else that makes me so happy is today's project! One of my favorite products in the 2015 Occasions Catalog is the Adventure Awaits stamp set. It is such a fun set for scrapbooking and card making, especially masculine cards. However, for today's card, I took a different approach, and created a bright thinking of you card with one of these stamps.
When I first saw this set, I knew the "A calm sea never made a skilled sailor" image would be perfect for a thinking of you card. All our trials and troubles in life make us better & better. They allow us to safely & skillfully navigate the sea of life turning us into skilled sailors. :)
I had a bit of trouble at first in deciding a layout since this image is so big, but I think I did a great job in figuring it out. I decided to put the stamped image off to one side, layered on different papers cut from the Window Framelits. Behind that is a fun, water-like background made from the AMAZING Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. Don't forget, you can get that FREE with a $50 purchase!
For my "thinking of you" sentiment, I cut out a bit of Coastal Cabana cardstock with the File Tabs Edgelits. I layered it under Natural Ribbon & Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim, and added a bit of twine & thread from the sequin trim behind that top. I love how the small sentiment works with the large statement image, and ties everything together nicely.
I really enjoyed creating this card, and working with all of the fun elements. It's such a treat to bring so many different textures together perfectly. The DSP is amazing, and so easy to use! I used three different colors, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, and Pool Party, and sponged them on, working my way from light to dark. Love the look, and love how easy it is to recolor this DSP. It comes in several patterns, and the excess ink easily wipes off of the embossed patterns. You can sponge them, spritz them, or just leave them be. And don't forget, it's FREE with a $50 purchase (before tax & shipping), but don't wait too long, Sale-A-Bration ends March 31st.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I plan on sharing several projects next week, so be sure to come back to visit. Have a great weekend & Happy Stampin'!
