This weekend I had the pleasure of fitting in creative time (along with lots of family & husband time) into my schedule! It's rare that I find a good balance between it all, but this weekend was essentially perfect in that aspect. I created tons of projects, prepared for my Catalog Launch Party coming up this evening, all while fulfilling my household & family callings, oh, and got to catch up on my favorite soap opera! :) For the first time this weekend, I got to play with the new Stampin' Up! Project Life line. I wasn't exactly sure what I would do with the PL cards at first, well other than making cards, I couldn't envision incorporating them into my scrapbook layouts, and just had no direction on what to do with them. Yet still, I had to have them! Of course, the creative juices started flowing once I started looking through all of the beautiful cards! I even found a bit of layout inspiration on Pinterest. I wanted to share one of my favorite layouts I created over the weekend using the PL cards. I used a basic layout of 4 quadrants (I believe the inspiration I used showcased the 3x4 cards) I found on Pinterest, but changed up the cards and created a fun design & title to suit my needs.
I started with a Pool Party base. I wanted something a little lighter than the Bermuda Bay that is in the PL cards that way my cards & colors would really pop. I used the polka dot stencil from the Build A Banner Simply Created Kit sponged with Bermuda Bay for my background. I added my 4 squares on top of that. I used two 4x4 PL cards and two photos, one Instagram print and one I cut down to 4x4.
On the top PL Card, I added a ribbon banner that I attached using a few zig zag stitches with my sewing machine. Sewing onto the PL cards is all the rage with Stampin' Up!, and I couldn't miss out on trying this fun trend. I really love the look, and love that the ribbon is free to flow & move.
On the bottom PL Card, I used the card with the title "What I like about you." Except I HAD to change that title a bit. :) After all, I don't just like that this little guy is a sweetie, but LOVE that he is! I am so in love with this particular part of my page, as it so perfectly describes my darling nephew, and that this completely flowed from my own creative mind. My starburst was a piece from my junk pile that I had cut too big, then recut again. I love how the negative space allows the background to show through. I added a little pop of Crushed Curry with a flag, and layered the sweetie pie tag from the Num-Num stamp set. I spiffed up the tag with some Gold Baker's Twine, and used a Wooden Elements arrow to accent the sweetie. The "love" and "you are a" are from the Endless Birthday Wishes Photopoloymer Stamp Set. I colored the letters I needed with the Strawberry Slush Marker, and aligned them together. That is something I absolutely love about the Photopoloymer stamps, you can see EXACTLY what you are stamping, and exactly where the ink is on your stamp.
I absolutely adore how this page turned out, and love even more how much fun I had creating it. I cannot wait to create more with the Project Life cards, and to order more from the new catalog!
Here is a list of a few of the Project Life products, and you can see the full line in the 2014/2015 Catalog (side bar) or by clicking the shop button below. I hope you'll check back tomorrow to see what else I've been creating. Have a great Monday!
I'm playing along with Catherine & Cathy Create to link up to their tags challenge. Join them here.
