Las Vegas Photo Block My Digital Studio Page

Good morning! Have you had a chance to check out that new catalog yet!? Oh isn't it yummy!? I've put in my order, and can't wait to get my new goodies. I have so many ideas floating in my mind, and can't wait to put the new stamps to paper. In the meantime, I've been doing a little MDSing, and came up with a cover for our scrapbook/photobook for our anniversary trip to Las Vegas. I'm trying to scrapbook my trips in order. I finished our honeymoon trips, so next is on to the NYC trip, but I couldn't wait to create something fun for our Las Vegas scrapbook.
I decided to go with black & gold for the cover, and perhaps I'll go ahead and include this layout in the book as well (this layout was created for my yearly scrapbook, then I create a more detailed book of the whole trip). I don't have any plans to follow a certain theme, colors, or paper suite like I did with our honeymoon book, but I do think there will be loads of sparkle!

I did something a little different with this page with inspiration from Hollybeary Creations & an MDS Challenge. I'll call it photo "blocking." I used several square punches, altered the shape to a rectangle, and photo filled each with a photo I took at our hotel. I changed where the cropping occurred in each photo then placed each side by side to make it look like one big picture. It is easy to do, yet makes a big statement! I placed a similar photo in the background, and placed the opacity to 20%. The low opacity makes the photo blocking really pop! I put my title directly on the photo. I used alphabet punches, and gold coloring. I matched the gold to the Eiffel Tower so it's just the right tone. Under the "Las Vegas," you'll notice some wording. I used a text box, and typed out different things we did or saw. Bellagio Fountains, Hoover Dam, Paris, New York, New York, Lake Mead, Grand Canyon, you get the idea. I really love how it has a subtle look, yet has meaning. I used the same font to add out name, dates, and city below the photo.

I just love how this page turned out, and can't wait to get to work on the rest of the book. MDS makes it so easy for me to scrapbook anytime, anywhere. I can carry my laptop and scrapbook while I'm on my lunch break, or at home on my couch when I just don't feel like making a mess with paper. What is your favorite thing about creating with My Digital Studio? Or have you tried it yet, if not, you really must! There is a free 30 day trial you can find here, no reason not to try! :)
