I have been meaning to come up with a new & pretty address book for us for quite sometime, as in over a year, but I've been procrastinating, obviously! But boy, am I glad I did!! When I saw the File Tab Edgelits in the new cattie, I squealed!! They were just what I needed to create a fun and efficient address book of some sort. I didn't really have a book in mind, but more of a fun display piece for my new studio that doubled for addresses. I finally came across a thin wooden berry box at my local craft store, and at $2.99 it was just what I was looking for!
slapped on some paint carefully painted the box with several coats of black craft paint, then took to my Silhouette Cameo to decorate the outside. I used text to cut out "addresses" in a pretty font with gold vinyl, stuck it to the front of the box, and painted sealer over the entire thing. Next up, I started my dividers. I cut 8 Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock at 5-1/4" x 4-1/4", and ran them through the Big Shot with the File Tab Edgelits, alternating where I placed the tabs. After I had all the tabs, I ran the dividers through the Big Shot again, with the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder to really make them pop.
After the Big Shot, I rounded the top corners with the Corner Rounder Punch, and added a little Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape in solid gold to each of the tabs. Then I used the new Alphabet Rotary Stamp for put my letters on each divider. (P.S. Check out my Instagram to see how HUGE this stamp is! I was in shock at the size when I opened the box!) I stamped the letters with Black Stazon onto the washi tape. I made a few mistakes, but oh well, everything doesn't have to be perfect! :)
Now that I had my box and dividers, I needed cards for the address. This is where My Digital Studio comes in. I used several stamps from several different kits, and came up with a fun address card. I intended to stamp the first letter of the last name on each card, but I didn't quite leave enough room for that. But that's ok, I still love how they turned out! I printed out my cards on Whisper White Cardstock, then cut them with my Silhouette Cameo, rounded corners & all..so easy peasy!!
So what do you think? Do you have a pretty box for your addresses, or are you going to have to make one now? :) I am hoping having addresses out where I see them, will make me better at actually sending out pretty cards that I make! :)
