Watercolored Mother's Day

Mother's Day is coming up, and I've been working on the perfect cards! Watercolor is all the rage, so I wanted to do something with that. I wanted to use the Venetian Romance DSP rather than the Watercolor Wonder. I'd only recently snatched up the Venetian Romance DSP, and have only used it once. It has some beautiful watercolor-ish patterns, so I wanted to use that to tie into watercoloring the sentiment. I paired it with gold, and love how it looks with that DSP.

For the watercoloring, I used my Aqua Painter, stamp pads, and Watercolor Paper. I used Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, and Crisp Cantaloupe for the coloring. I haven't tried watercoloring for several years, and I forgot how much I loved it! This go around is much more abstract, and I love this look even more than coloring an image. I, sort of, made the watercoloring resemble a heart, and accented the edges with the Island Indigo ink.

I embossed "Happy Mother's Day" in gold directly over the watercolor. I love how the embossing looks with the watercoloring. I embellished the card with Basics Glimmer Brads and Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape. I added the washi tape at the end, and it was just what the card needed to look completed!

I've also created a scrapbook layout that coordinates with this card that I'll be sharing soon. Hopefully I'll have some photos to add to it after Sunday. :) Have you started creating something special for the mom in your life? I'm working on another special project for mine! Be sure to check back to see more of that, and I'll have a fun scrapbook page to share tomorrow! See you then!
