Sweetie Pie Nurses Card & Vinyl Sign

My sweet cousin, Kelsey, is graduating nursing school day. She's going to be a mother/baby nurse at a local hospital, and has already accepted a position. I'm so proud of her! She is going to be the perfect nurse, no matter what specialty, but I think she'll be a particularly wonderful mother/baby nurse as she LOVES babies! I wanted to make her a little something special to celebrate her graduation, and I hope I've done just that. I created a lovely card for her using the Sweetie Pie Photopolymer Stamp Set. This set has already sold out. I'm sorry I didn't realize that before, but this card was too beautiful not to share. The Sweetie Pie Frames set is still available, and there will be a few sets with people in the new catalog that would work great for something like this too. Anyway, I just love how the card turned out, and I hope she does too! I wanted to use black & gold {surprise, surprise right?} as to my enjoyment that is her school's colors. I started out with the card's base & stamping the little lady. I had no idea what I was going to do from there, but the end result couldn't be more perfect!

I used a Very Vanilla & Modern Medley DSP base, and built on it from there. I stamped the sweetie pie on Vanilla with Black Stazon, then again with Versamark on So Saffron. I heat embossed the 2nd little sweetie in gold, and trimmed out her hair once it cooled. I wanted her to be blonde, so the gold & Saffron was just the touch!

After I had the little lady done up, I started working on my layers. I decided on giving a little pop with the Gold Sequin Trim. I attached it to the DSP with Sticky Strip-does the trick perfectly! From there I added a couple of ovals to make the Sweetie Pie pop. I went with a Vanilla & Gold oval from the Oval Framelits.

Next, I needed to frame that sweet face. I used the Sweetie Pie Frames Stamp Set of course, and embossed that in White Stampin' Emboss Powder. I trimmed out the frame by hand with Paper Snips. I trimmed the Vanilla that the face was on according to the frame, and attached it to the gold with Snail. The card needed a little more, so I created a smaller grouping of flags with Basic Black & Gold Baker's Twine. I glued that on, then put the frame over all of that.

The last step was a cute little nurses hat to top off the card. You'll never believe it, but it was created with the Owl Builder Punch! I used the body piece, and trimmed it down a bit. I placed it over the frame & all, and adorned it with a Gold Foil Paper cross punched from the Itty Bitty Punch pack, which is retiring so hurry to get yours! I just ADORE how this card turned out, and I'm super sad the Sweetie Pie set isn't available any longer, but I hope you'll still find inspiration & be able to find an alternative in the upcoming new catalog. Along with this card, I made a sweet little gift to give her.

I created this with a little wooden plaque I found at a local craft store, a little craft paint, and a little vinyl. The heart is from the Long Heart Digital Punch from My Digital Studio. I altered it a bit to fit the space I had. The nursing quote is a download from the Silhouette Online Store. I cut all of that out with my Silhouette Cameo, and attached it to the plaque which I painted gray. I painted Modge Podge on over all of that so that my vinyl would be permanent. I added a wall photo hangers to each side on the back, and strung retired Pink Pirouette ribbon through that. This method works great rather than staple gunning the ribbon-staples tend to rip the ribbon so it won't last as long. I tied the ribbon in a pretty bow, and it works great as a hanger (or if she wants to hang it like a photo without the ribbon, that's possible too).

I love how the color scheme turned out, and I'm so pleased the entire project worked out great! I've been making several other vinyl projects, and they weren't as good. It just takes practice I suppose! :) I also wanted to share a couple of cards I made at Kelsey's request for her professors & nursing school friends. I won't go into much detail about them, but they were cased from cards we found on Pinterest. I'll share the links below. I hope you enjoyed all of today's projects, if you would like to purchase supplies to make the card or digital downloads to make your own vinyl art, you can shop my store 24/7 online {link below} or feel free to contact me {sidebar has all of my contacts, including Instagram--follow me there to get peeks of projects}!
