Trash to Treasure

I recently went to a craft retreat, and brought a long to do list with me! One of the things on my list was to use up my scrap bits from my “don’t need it right now, but too good to throw away” pile. Do you have one of these piles? Mine is always growing. I stamp something or emboss cardstock or punch something out then change my mind. Happens ALL of the time. Anyway, I needed to cut this pile down, and use as much as I could. I have to say I was pretty darn successful in meeting that goal. I created 5 cards and a two page scrapbook spread. Today, I wanted to share a few of the cards, and tomorrow I’ll share the scrapbook layout.
I must “warn” you these cards a pretty diverse, as like I said they are made with scrappy bits. The first card stems from a Christmas card this past year. The chevron banner & burlap were left over from then. I didn’t need them so threw them in the pile. I made a fun monochromatic card with the bits, and love how it turned out! The lacy ribbon is from my ribbon scrap bowl, but Victoria Trim would be just as beautiful. I used the Starburst Saying Set to add a little pop! I stamped “Oh Happy Day” in Baked Brown Sugar to complete the monochromatic look.

The next card is from a banner I made for my desk area at work awhile back. I didn’t want to use the banner anymore so I took it apart, and made a few cards. The doily and entire flower were already made, I simply added the banners on the right, and popped it all on a card. Quickest card ever! Well, unless you don’t count the doily & flower being already made. :)

The last two cards were made with a BUNDLE of Dress Form Framelit cut outs I had. I don’t know how many I had, but I planned on using them for bridesmaids’ cards last year but never did. These pretty little dresses & stands have been wasting away in that “junk” pile since. The first card is such a pretty & feminine card. I used a sponged Apothecary Accents Framelit cut out I already had as well, and paired it all up with a Coastal Cabana Decorative Dots (Embossing Folder from Sale-A-Bration) Embossed background and a Pink Pirouette strip. I topped of the dress with Coastal Cabana Ruffled Ribbon. Love how it turned out!

The second Dress Form card is a little funkier. I had the heat embossed card base and embossed white strip already as well, so I needed something that matched those and the dress. The Eastern Elegance DSP was the perfect match! Since the card base is embossed in silver, I added some Silver Ribbon to the dress top it all off.

I LOVE that all of these cards we essentially made from trash!! It is amazing what you can create with things you think you no longer need. Be sure to check back tomorrow to see what I did with the rest of those dress forms! :) Also, don't forget Sale-A-Bration is almost over-Hurry before it's too late to get your FREE gift with every $50 order!
See you back tomorrow!
