Celebrate Love with Gold

We all know I am loving gold these takes!!! Stampin' Up! has made it too easy not to! There are so many gorgeous gold goodies in the Spring Catalog, you can't help but love it! I took that love into consideration when doing the layout for this year's Valentine scrapbook layout. I threw traditional reds and pinks out the window! And went for the gold! My starting inspiration was the fun black pattern from the Sweet Sorbet DSP from Sale-A-Bration (hurry to get yours before it's too late! SAB ends MONDAY!), and pulled a color from there. I decided to use Crisp Cantaloupe, Gold, and Black as my palette, and I LOOOVE how it turned out!

I had some fun with the pictures on the page. I used a photo that I prettied up with the Rhonna Designs App, and shared in Instagram using different filters. It's not something I would usually do on a traditional layout (have done it many times on an MDS scrapbook page), but I think it is the perfect effect to this page.

Another fun element is on the second page of the layout. My sweet friend Sam & her mom came up with this little collection of gold goodness, and it really topped off the page! We used Gold Vellum, Gold Foil Paper, Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape, and Gold Sequin Trim, and topped it off with a punched heart from Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock. I used a black Sharpie to add my journaling to the Gold Foil Paper so it wouldn't smudge.

The star embellishment of the page is the title! I used the Moments Ago Digital Download to cut "celebrate" from Gold Foil Paper with my Silhouette Cameo (I did the same but with different downloads for the "valentine loves" title on the opposite page), which was initially going to be my only title. After I decided this would be a Valentine layout and began putting the page together, I knew I needed a little something more. I decided to dig out an old alphabet die set, as the current alphabet dies were just too small for the L, V, & E. (I could have also used my Silhouette to do this). I used the Heart Framelit Dies to cut my heart. I used the same size to cut two large hearts with Crisp Cantaloupe, and the same size to cut a heart from the Window Sheets. I used a smaller heart to cut in the middle of one of the larger hearts, creating a framed heart. I attached the window sheet to the heart frame using Sticky Strip, and used the circle Shaker Frames to piece around the heart frame. I added bits of Gold Baker's Twine, sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim, and gold stars & gold twine from the Good As Gold Kit.

I love how this unconventional Valentine page turned out, and I can't wait to try out the Shaker Frame's again! Hope you enjoyed today's project, and check back Monday for a fun decor project for any time of the year!
