Making a House a Home Series: The Living Area

Good afternoon! I'm so glad you stopped by today, even though it has been a couple of weeks since I last posted. I'm excited to say that I've used the time away to work on many projects that I'll be sharing here soon! For today & the next week, however, I want to share our lovely home! One of the items on my 30B430 list was to build a home. Not necessarily brick & martyr, literally build a home but make a house a home, and that is exactly what I'll be sharing this upcoming week!
Charlie & I have each had our own homes or apartments separately and we lived in our home prior to marriage, but since saying "I Do" we have had a lot of fun meshing our things, tastes, and items from our wedding registry to really make it ours. We've consulted on colors, themes, mixing the old & new, and, of course, compromising. Just before we were married we went together and picked out new furniture for most of our home. Our home decor journey has blossomed from there. There are still some spaces that need completing or just don't quite sit right, but we will change & finish them as we go, after all, as we grow so will our tastes and needs.
The first room I wanted to share was our living area. This is one room that we still aren't quite happy with. Our furniture is hard to configure with the layout of our living room, we need a rug, and we are just not quite happy with the colors. I do love how we have meshed decor pieces we already had with new pieces we've purchased specifically for the room, how the colors match our wedding finger print tree, and made DIYs to match the color palette.

Although our color palette is fun, and we have done an excellent job of incorporating the old & new, we feel like our furniture is more on the cozy level, than fun. I came across some inspiration the other day for a future living room setting, and it will definitely be cozy! However, we'll live with this for awhile, then change it up. Change is always good. :) Hope you will check back tomorrow to see our living & dining area, and how I use My Digital Studio prints in my home decorating!
