MDS: Photo as a Scrapbook Page Background

Good evening! Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was perfect. Busy, but great! Being so busy lately, I have not had much time to do traditional scrapbooking, so I have been doing A BUNCH of digital scrapbooking. I have to say, I've really come to enjoy it. I'm even beginning to think after this year I will fully integrate to all digital scrapbooking. Anyhow, one of my favorite things about digital scrapbooking is being able to crop and resize photos. I even LOVE to make a photo a background on a page, and reduce to opacity of that. It makes an amazing statement if you make the background photo black and white then accent the page with the same photo, but in color. I did something similar for today's layout, but used both as color photos. However, with the opacity reduced on the background photo it really changes the look of the photo to make the colored photo really pop. Here's what I mean...

I LOVE how the enlarged background really allows you to get a close up of Braxton's sweet face :) Then, there is a great burst of color with the smaller, matted photo. I cased much of this layout from Jane Lee. You can find my inspiration here. I used an entire different feel and colors than Jane, but the general layout, aside from the matted photo, is the same. The arrow was made using the Free Form Tool, and many elements came from the Anchors Away Ensemble.
I hope you've had a great Monday, and enjoyed today's layout!
I'd love to hear from you. What is your favorite thing to do with photos in My Digital Studio?
