Technique Tuesday

Oh boy, do I have lots of fun cards to show you today!! I'm sure you've seen all of the chalkboard cards going around, and you may remember my MDS chalkboard Christmas Card Class Invite here. Well, I couldn't resist giving the chalkboard technique a go! I cased both of these chalkboard cards, and used the Hearts of Flutter Bundle. SO in love with that set & framelits! I am also oh so in love with the More Amore Designer Series Paper and digital ensemble! I also used the Flower Trim from the Spring Catalog on both cards. I simply cut off one flower, and attached to the cards. The top card also uses buttons available FOR FREE through Sale-a-Bration! Spend $50 and get an exclusive Sale-a-Bration item for free!

Anyway, lets talk about the chalkboard technique! Believe it or not, it is super simple! To create the lines, I used the Silver Stampin' Dazzle Marker. The trick to this is to not press down hard, and just lightly draw the lines. I used a ruler to keep mine straight. Now, to create the "chalk dust" use White Stazon Ink & a Stampin' Sponge. Just dab your sponge in the ink and smear onto your black cardstock, SO EASY!!! The sentiments are simply stamped in VersaMark Ink, and heat embossed with Very Vanilla Embossing Powder. This is such a fun & simple technique, and makes a lasting impression! Will you be trying the chalkboard technique?

I've got one more technique to share with you today! It is BEYOND simple! This card is quite simple, but spritzing it with Platinum Shimmer Paint (mixed with alcohol) gives it the perfect touch! I mixed up my paint in a spray bottle from my local drugstore with mostly rubbing alcohol & only a few drops of Shimmer Paint. It gives it the perfect touch of shimmer! I hope you can see the shimmer in the photos, but it not, trust me, it adds a beautiful touch!

I hope you enjoyed today's techniques, and are inspired to go out & try them!
