Just So Gesso Fun

Ohhhh my goodness!!!!!!!!! Today's cards are JUST SO or Gesso fun!!! I came across a technique from Kimberly Van Diepen (can you guys tell I'm obsessed with her work!) using Gesso, which you can find at your local arts & crafts store. I immediately had to try it, and love it so much I made 3 different cards with the technique in one sitting! And guess what!? I'm sharing them all with you today! You can see Kimberly's original card and a video tutorial here.

The first card I want to share is a layout cased from Kimberly as well, only I changed things up quite a bit. I am SOOOO in love with this card & it's vintage vibe! I used the Gesso on First Edition DSP then stamped it with the oval from the Oh Hello stamp set. I tore the edges of the oval out, and sponged it with Soft Suede ink. I don't think this card could have turned out anymore beautiful!

The second card is done with the same First Edition DSP, but with a brighter feel! I used the Sycamore Street DSP for the flag, a Sycamore Street Button, and the Bloomin' Marvelous Stamp Set, all available for FREE through Sale-A-Bration! I love how bright & fun this card is, and love the off set sentiment!

The last card is taken a bit further! I had the bright idea to add reinker to the Gesso, and oh my goodness, how wonderfully it worked!! I cased this layout from another demonstrator, but changed up the colors, and of course used the Gesso. I started out with Pink Pirouette Reinker, but it just wasn't dark enough, so I switched to Melon Mambo, and that worked perfectly!

What do you think? Will you try the Gesso Technique?
